At Stately Park Homes, we believe learning can be at its best when it is practical, creative and fun. That is why our team was delighted to visit Ysgol Gymraeg Cwm Gwyddon, which is located in Abercarn—the same village as our manufacturing facility—to give pupils a friendly behind-the-scenes look at how park homes and lodges are designed, manufactured and brought to life.
Our latest visit took place on 12 March 2026 at the invitation of the school, continuing what has become an annual event for Stately Park Homes following previous visits in March 2024 and April 2025. The sessions give the children the opportunity to learn more about a local business within their community and discover some of the many skills involved in building homes. From computer design to practical activities, they are created to encourage curiosity, questions and plenty of participation.
The events were created and presented by Carl and Ieuan, knowledgeable and highly regarded members of the Stately Park Homes team, who brought their experience and enthusiasm to each session.
Sharing what we do
As a UK park home manufacturer, Stately Park Homes is proud to be part of the local community. The school visits offered a chance to share what we do in a way that was accessible and engaging for children, while also helping them understand more about the world of work, manufacturing, construction and safety.
Throughout each presentation, the pupils were encouraged to ask questions and join in with the discussion. Their enthusiasm helped shape the sessions, making them lively, interactive and full of thoughtful observations about how houses are made.
From design to finished home
The presentations took the children on the journey of a Stately park home, beginning with the design stage. Our team introduced the pupils to Computer Aided Design, commonly known as CAD, and explained how homes are carefully planned digitally before construction begins.
The children then learned how those designs move from the screen into the factory, where each home is built step by step. We talked through the manufacturing process, from the chassis and frame through to wall construction, roof assembly and the interior fit-out that helps turn a structure into a comfortable finished home.
To help connect all the stages together, the pupils were shown a complete 360-degree digital tour of a finished Stately Park Home. This allowed them to explore the final result and see how individual materials, components and skills come together to create a completed house.
Exploring health and safety
Safety was another important part of the visit. The children took part in an interactive activity where they were asked to spot potential hazards and think about why they might be dangerous.
By turning safety awareness into a simple and engaging discussion, the pupils were able to practise observation, problem-solving and decision-making in a way that was suitable for their age and easy to understand.
Hands-on activities
The practical activities were a real highlight of the sessions. The children had the chance to try a range of simple, hands-on tasks inspired by the skills used in home building and finishing.
- Making connections with quick-fit plumbing fittings.
- Trying wallpapering using paste.
- Arranging ceramic tiles and exploring simple tiling patterns.
These activities gave the pupils an opportunity to learn through doing. They encouraged creativity, coordination, problem-solving and confidence, while giving the children a fun introduction to some of the practical skills that help turn a house into a home.

Supporting our community
Stately Park Homes is proud to support local schools and community initiatives. Visiting Ysgol Gymraeg Cwm Gwyddon gave us the chance to share our knowledge, answer questions and help children see how design, manufacturing and practical skills all play a part in creating homes.
We would like to thank the pupils and staff for such a warm welcome and for taking part with so much enthusiasm. It was a pleasure to spend time with such curious young learners and to help bring housebuilding to the classroom.
As a company rooted in the community, we are always pleased to play a part in inspiring future generations and supporting educational opportunities that help children learn, explore and discover new skills.
