Built for All Seasons: The Stately Park Homes Standard

At Stately Park Homes, based just outside Newport, South Wales, we have a long history of manufacturing high-quality park homes and lodges. Our company was founded in 1963, which coincidentally is the exact same year the very first British Standard for residential caravans was published.

Since then, both our company and the industry standards have evolved significantly. Today, we are proud that every home we build is constructed to the current British Standard 3632 (BS 3632).

For our customers, this is more than just a technical certification; it is your assurance that the property is built to a specific level of durability, safety, and comfort.

What is BS 3632?

BS 3632 is the specific technical standard for the manufacture of "Residential Park Homes". The key definition within this standard is that the home is manufactured for use as a permanent place of residence.

While many holiday homes and static caravans are designed primarily for seasonal use in warmer weather, a home built to BS 3632 is designed for year-round living. This means it is engineered to handle the British climate across all seasons while keeping you comfortable inside.

The Benefits of a BS 3632 Home

Choosing a Stately Park Home built to this standard offers several practical advantages over a standard holiday model:

  • Year-Round Warmth: You can be confident that your home is designed to withstand winter conditions. The standard requires our central heating systems to be capable of maintaining a temperature of 22°C in living and dining areas (and 18°C in bedrooms and kitchens) even when the outside temperature drops to -1°C. We achieve this through strict requirements for thermal insulation in the floors, walls, and roofs.
  • Energy Efficient Lighting: To help reduce your electricity usage and running costs, the standard requires that fixed light fittings throughout the home are provided with low-energy lamps (such as LEDs).
  • Sound Insulation: To ensure your privacy and comfort, the external walls of our homes are tested to meet specific sound reduction targets (33 dB), helping to minimize noise transmission from outside.
  • Ventilation and Air Quality: Because modern homes are well-insulated to keep heat in, managing air quality is essential. Our homes are fitted with "whole home" ventilation systems, including background ventilators and mechanical extract fans in wet rooms (like bathrooms and kitchens).
  • Safety Features: We build with your safety as a priority. In line with the standard, our homes feature mains-powered smoke and heat alarms, carbon monoxide detectors in any room with a fuel-burning appliance, and windows and doors designed specifically for emergency escape.

Standards That Keep Improving

The regulations we follow are regularly updated to ensure modern homes are efficient and sustainable.

  • The 2015 revision of the standard introduced a significant increase in requirements for energy efficiency.
  • The latest 2023 revision went further, improving thermal performance and enhancing moisture control to better protect the structure of the home.

Independently Inspected by the NCC

We are a proud member of the National Caravan Council (NCC), the UK trade body representing the tourer, motorhome, holiday home, and park home industries.

As part of our membership, our manufacturing process and our homes are regularly inspected throughout the year to ensure strict compliance with industry standards. We are delighted to state that for the past several years, Stately Park Homes has consistently achieved 5 star certification—the highest possible rating—from the NCC. This serves as an independent verification of our commitment to building homes of exacting standards.
